Age is Just a Number

It's recently been brought to my attention that I look younger than I am.

Like way younger.

I'm 27 years old, but I've been told I could pass for as young as 18.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

On one hand, and as my momma keeps telling me, I will love this when I'm older.

On the other hand, I don't need people thinking I'm 18 years old. It's difficult enough in Corporate America for young women to fight their way to the top of the ladder, but when people think you're way younger than you actually are, well that puts you at an even greater disadvantage.

The kicker came this past summer. My gym runs a day camp for kids and I believe it goes up to 7th grade. That would be 12-13 year olds. I walked in one Tuesday morning for Pilate's and before I could even swipe my membership card the front desk woman proceeded with, "Are you here for camp?" I looked around thinking she must surely be talking to someone who walked in behind me.

She wasn't.

Seriously? Was I there for camp? No, no I was not there for camp. But nice to know I look like a child. Thankyousomuch.

Too bad I'm not an actress, because they really could cast me as a victim on this show

  1. I get mistaken for much younger as well. I just keep telling myself that it will be worth it a few years from now... ;-)

  2. Haha my mom always tells me that about being glad when I'm older, but it's embarrassing now!
I love that you made a To Catch a Predator reference too :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Glad you found me through Lauren, isn't she such a sweetheart! Looking forward to 'getting to know you' better :)
