Since I work so much, I felt guilty having Ida Claire at home by herself so often. So, I farmed her out. She is still very much my dog, and stays with me frequently, but I "share custody" we like to say with my mom.  There she can play with my parent's dog and have constant attention - because someone is practically always home.  But I miss her so much and I crave time with her.
